Cultural diversity

Why do we not easily accept people from different cultures? Why do we not value their cultural traditions and expect them to act and function according to our values and traditions? It’s because we haven’t developed a sense of acceptance and adaptability.

The internet is playing an important role in creating cultural awareness among people and developing a better understanding about cultural values. It is cultivating a sense of acceptability and understanding.

Cultural Preservation:

Culture is something preserved by our ancestors from thousands of years ago and passed down through the generations and those values are still intact with us in one way or another. We are actually bred with cultural values and trained to function accordingly.

But now, we live in a time where the world is referred to as a global village and people from every corner of the world are connected. We work and interact with people of different cultures which gives us the opportunity to understand different cultures and develop a sense of acceptability. We tend to welcome cultural diversity because of the internet. In this sense, Mediacom is helping people understand different cultures, values, and traditions.

Can you imagine world without internet now?

Imagine a world without the internet. Would you be able to watch the news from places all over the world? Would you work with people from different part of the world? Would you be exposed to other cultures? The answer is no. Whenever we think of travelling somewhere, we first Google that place and try to understand the cultural traditions and the language of that place. How would you start a conversation with people from that place? What are their likes and dislikes? These are the important things to know before visiting, and thanks to Mediacom high speed internet we can quickly learn these things on the internet.

Mediacom is one of the largest telecommunication companies in the U.S., covering more than 22 states. It has helped create cultural awareness and diversity by providing information regarding customs and traditions, and all this information is available to us in just the blink of an eye.

Internet – Creating cultural respect:

But the best thing that internet has ever done is that it developed respect for other cultures and their values and traditions. We often tend to have a myopic view of different cultures, but now we have developed this sense of acceptability. If we don’t seem to agree with someone’s customs or values we try not to resent them, we accept them as they are and try to adjust accordingly.

These cultural contradictions have started so many wars that people have actually fought these same wars for generations. The internet has made all this information readily available to us and it has created a sense of respect for every culture, so much so that people are actually studying other cultures. But still, there are many uneducated and evil people that are trying to keep the world in the dark ages by creating cultural wars. Now is the time to use the internet for good by educating ourselves about different cultures and using this knowledge to eradicate cultural differences.
